Waste Management

Our Goal: Send less waste

to the landfill

Lyons is committed to decreasing our waste footprint and diverting waste from landfills where possible. Since the inception of our ESG program in 2022, we have increased our landfill diversion rate by over 55% by diverting ~34,000 tons of waste from going to the landfills by expanding our composting and recycling programs. The main drivers of this success have been the optimization of our liquid waste and steel drum recycling programs.

Water
Conservation

Our Goal: Use less water

Headquartered in California and with deep roots in agriculture, Lyons knows that water is a precious commodity. In 2024 alone, we consumed ~40 million gallons less than projected by implementing a water shutoff program and encouraging responsible water monitoring throughout all aspects of our four plants.

Workplace Health & Safety

Our Goal: Create a safe & productive work environment

Our top priority is people safety. Since the inception of our ESG program in 2022, we have made continuous improvements in our safety programs and have decreased our injury rate (TRIR) by 38%, nearly 30% lower than industry standard. We broadened our safety teams and committees across all sites and have implemented a new electronic system for reporting hazards.

All Hands In

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Our Goal: Build the best team

Lyons has established three affinity groups to promote team building:

The Women’s Growth Network (WGN) focuses on the professional and personal growth of women at Lyons. WGN hosts workshops, seminars, and social events that are open to all employees across all sites.

Helping Hands organizes local volunteer and community service events for employees. These events are an opportunity for team building and giving back to the community.

In 2023, we launched the Adventurer's Club where employees organize activities to promote learning and physical activity in a judgement-free zone. Activities have included group race training, white water rafting, and pasta making workshops.

Responsible Sourcing

Our Goal: Increase supplier diversity

Diverse-owned businesses and small businesses help drive economic development in communities. In order to have a more varied supplier base, we set a goal in 2024 to increase the diversity of our raw material suppliers by tracking spend with diverse-owned businesses and small businesses.

Employee Engagement

Our Goal: Increase engagement between teams and with the organization

Lyons has expanded to a total of 4 plants and has maintained the same One Team culture. This is a testament to how we work together towards common goals on a daily basis. Every year, we will host our annual Service Awards where we celebrate our employees and their tenure and dedication. We also conduct annual employee engagement surveys to welcome anonymous input from our team to help continuously make our workplace even better.
